Top 5 Hosts
in Speed Test
Oct. 12, 2019, New York – In speed tests conducted by third-party GTMetrix.com, LazyLizard has come out ahead, again, of five of the largest web hosting companies in the world.
LazyLizard specializes in web hosting for WordPress websites, with servers that are fine-tuned for WordPress speed and security. Our site itself is done in WordPress so this speed test shows the actual speed of our optimized WordPressservers.
LazyLizard is an independent, privately-owned web hosting company whose driving ambition is to provide the absolute best service possible for our clients. Because of our independent status, we’re not pressured by large investors to eek out every last penny of profit by cutting expenses so low that it affects server performance for our clients.
We don’t know if all our clients notice this, but we do know we have a lot of clients who have been with us for more than 20 years! And whether they notice or not, we take great pride in knowing that we’re doing an excellent job. We take pride in paying attention to every minute detail, seen and unseen alike. It’s the combination of getting all the unseen details right that makes it possible for us to beat all the bigger and more well-known hosts. And we don’t just beat them in speed, we really beat them!
Some people say the speed of the host’s site has nothing to do with the speed of the sites they host. But, we say, the abysmal speeds these hosts’ own sites show that the majority of their efforts are focused on improving the bottom line rather than taking care of all the many details you have to pay attention to in order to run the best and fastest service for their clients.

Overall Page-Speed Score
Page Load Time (in Seconds)
We were pretty shocked at wpengine’s page load-speed time, so we tested them several times over an hour. The slowest speed they got during our tests that hour was 19.7 seconds. We found that hard to believe so we gave them several more chances, finally ending up with this abysmal 15.0-second load time.
Last month their time was considerably better and we imagine it will be better next month as well. But this does correspond to anecdotal data from many of their customers telling us, over time, that they’ve had problems with slow speeds on their sites.
Google Developers' Speed Tests
Our hearts sank, though, when we saw the results on the Google Developers’ speed-test site. We couldn’t believe we were below 80%. Until… we saw we were pretty much 3 times faster than the Big Five hosting companies!
